The body builds.
The mind decides.

Mound Mentality is a baseball training program built on the belief — that the mound is where the body and the mind meet. We develop the physical tools, train the mental approach, and let the game follow.

Every session is designed to forge repeatable mechanics, competitive focus, and the quiet confidence that shows up when the count is full and the game is on the line.

ABOUT

Real experience.
Real mentorship.

Brandon Carter is a professional baseball player and the founder of Mound Mentality, bringing more than 20 years of playing experience and a firsthand understanding of the mental demands athletes face at every level of competition. His baseball career has taken him through NCAA Division I, Junior College, and NAIA programs, and he currently competes professionally in the Frontier League.

Brandon's journey into mental performance training began during his senior year of college, when he discovered how significantly mindset, confidence, focus, and mental preparation could impact performance. It also made him realize how valuable these skills would have been earlier in his athletic career.

That realization became the foundation for Mound Mentality. Brandon created the company to give younger athletes access to the mental tools he wishes he had developed at their age—helping them learn how to handle pressure, overcome failure, build confidence, stay focused, and compete with purpose.

Mound Mentality is built on real playing experience, not just theory. Every athlete works personally with Brandon, allowing each session to be tailored to the athlete's individual challenges, goals, and competitive environment.

The goal is simple: develop athletes who are as prepared mentally as they are physically.

Strength & Conditioning

Jessy Camire

Remote Strength & Conditioning Coach

Born and raised in Quebec, Canada, Jessy Camire has spent the last six years in the United States chasing the game of baseball and everything that comes with it. His journey took him from Quebec to Orlando, Florida, where he played travel baseball for TNXL Academy, and eventually to South Carolina, where he continued his playing career at Erskine College, a Division II program.

After hanging up the cleats, he knew he wasn't ready to walk away from the game. He found his next path in strength and conditioning, with the goal of helping athletes become stronger, healthier, and more capable than they ever thought possible.

Jessy took a chance and headed west to Mesa, Arizona, where he interned at PUSH Performance, a private baseball performance facility. That summer pushed him to grow as a coach, both on and off the floor, and gave him the opportunity to work closely with high-level baseball athletes while learning what it truly takes to develop performance.

That experience eventually led him to Texas Christian University, where he is currently continuing his development as a strength and conditioning coach and learning under one of the most respected mentors in baseball performance, Zach Dechant.

His purpose as a coach comes from his own experience as an athlete. For years, he trained without truly understanding how to prepare his body for the demands of baseball. Poor training decisions and injuries eventually restricted him from reaching the level he believed he was capable of reaching. He doesn't want other athletes to make the same mistakes.

That is what drives him today — giving baseball players the knowledge, structure, and individualized training they need to build their bodies, stay healthy, and reach their true potential. He may not have achieved the dream he once had as a player, but he now has a new one: helping the next generation of athletes achieve theirs.

The Foundation

THE FIVE steps to DEVELOP THE MOUND MENTALITY

01

Believe

First, you have to have belief and confidence in yourself that you are good enough and you will succeed. If you don't believe in yourself, how can you ask other people to believe in you?

02

Prepare

Daily throwing, weight room, sprint days, journaling, meditation and visualization, sleep, nutrition are all a part of preparation. They all work together to give the athlete the best chance to succeed.

03

Attack

“My stuff is good enough to get this hitter out.” A simple but powerful phrase. Even the best hitters in the world fail 7 out of 10 times. The odds are in your favor so attack the zone and let your defense work.

04

Reset

Gave up a hit? Defense made an error? Umpire didn't call the borderline pitch a strike? So what — you cannot control it, so stop trying. Nothing matters except the next pitch. Be present in the here and now, and go execute the next pitch.

05

Reflect

What was the thought process behind that pitch sequence? What would I change or keep the same if I am in the same situation again? These are just examples of things to journal about after an outing. It can be baseball related, life related, or about none of those. It's your thoughts, your ideas. Write what you need to write to unwind after a long day.

The Standard

Attack

Every Pitch. Every Rep. Every Day.

Trust

The Process. Your Preparation. Yourself.

Finish

Don't Just Start. Finish Strong.

The strongest mentality starts with knowing this: your performance can change from day to day. Your worth does not.

Voices from the Mound

“Physical ability only gets you so far. Learning how to reset mentally after every pitch changed everything for me.”

— Clayton Kershaw, LA Dodger — Future Hall of Famer

“Pitching is a mental skill. When I mastered the thinking part, everything else became easier.”

— Greg Maddux, MLB Hall of Famer

“I put in just as much off the field, on the mental side of things, as I did physically. That is probably what I pride myself on the most: the mental work I've done and how much I've grown as a player and as a person.”

— Corbin Burnes, Cy Young Award Winner 2021

Self-Evaluation

Rate Yourself

This is a scale for athletes to rank themselves based off last outings, practices, weight room sessions, and just life in general. This is where I ask athletes to get vulnerable and honest with themselves. Doing those two things is the first step in getting better.
